Summer v Winter

We are subordinate to our landscape, to our environment.
Attempts at domination are futile

Volcanoes, Beaches, Snow ... Black and White

Climb a Mountain NOW!!
...Puts it all in perspective
...reclaims sanity

Climb a mountian NOW

find a black sand beach

then leave it all behind you

and face the madness

(- these two pics were taken 20hrs and 30 kms apart!-)

SOME RECENT HAIKU

As the world trips up,
how do we stop falling?
- lean in, take a step

Silver horizon
Rain kissed wreckage, submerged rocks
Noah is drowning

stove tops, ponga fronds...
spirals wind... and release me
dipping paddle swirls

Those leprachaun eyes
Be off with you, o’er green hills
To dance upon tombs

Soup; warm as lovers
I found you in my toaster
Avocado smooth

A kitchen diamond?
And my carbon footprint was…
Just the soul of your choux

Pancakes in the pan
...Coffee in my favourite cup
(missing the syrup)

Antisept the wound
Cold silverhaven heart stills
Solstice suffering

aint complicated
Fire & ice, hissing heart melts
Sublimation blues

Ocean in my shirt
Heart wave heaving, Neptune freed
Salt in my creases

when silence falls
beacon candles burn down low
heart shadows flicker

Manukau sunset
from up a green volcano
over sewage ponds

mussel encrusted
a broken mooring washed up
this is how life goes

...waiting to be filled

...then took the kids up to the base of mount Sefton - and saw tectonics in action. We felt the true tenuousity of this planet we ride together... we are truly very, very insignificant. We can't change the world - but we can change the reality we live in!!! - the resolution for 2007 is GET REAL

What a wonderful Planet!!!

Big trip down into the Central South Island.
Climbed right up amongst the glaciers and stayed under a huge rock .
Came across a herd of cows on the way [as you do]

Tapae-o-oenuku

We climbed this awesome mountain - the highest in NZ outside the Southern Alps - The whole trip took two and a half days - in perfect conditions - baking hot in the down in the river, below zero up in the snow. Now we feel revitalised!!!

Tapae-o-oenuku

It took 11 hours to the summit from the start of the Hodder River in the wild Aorere Valley.
The Hodder is mainly a canyon, then there's alot of scree, then ice.

Hello Planet

Hello planet! - this is my first posting
- I promise (for what it's worth), that -when I get around to it - everything will be questioned and there may not be any satisfactory answers but we will all learn alot on the way.

[Is it a planet?
How far does this blog go - this planet and beyond?
Who knows?
Who cares?
What's important?
Why do we place such importance on beliefs?]
